Today I turned in my school keys. Not for the summer, but for good.
With Little Latham #3 on the way, I am going to be a full-time SAHM. It's bittersweet. I LOVED my job. Two days a week teaching computer at a small private school was bliss. All of the kids loved coming to computer, because who doesn't like playing on the computer?! Staying home with sick children was never a problem. My weekends were longer than my work week. I put on makeup AND ironed clothing two days a week. I will miss it.
BUT, now I get to stay home with my new little chickie and spend all of the time I want to in the girls' classrooms. I also don't have to lug a pump with me to school twice a week and worry about milk stains on my shirt.
Making sure the girls' clothes, hairbows, socks, and shoes are ready to go to Grandmama and Granddaddy's in the mornings won't be an issue anymore, either.
Don't get me wrong, though...I wasn't cheering when I left this afternoon. Tossing old bulletin boards and signs that I worked really hard on was difficult. Leaving a great group family of coworkers and kids after seven years was sad. A great perk of being a teacher (besides summers!) is that I can always go back. I'm not sure I'll ever find a place I'll love as much as I've loved St. Aloysius, though!
