Just Grand!

Whoever coined the term 'grandparent' was a genius.  I am reminded of this every time we visit with any of our parents.  This past weekend the girls and I traveled to Atlanta to see Nana and Papa and to celebrate cousin James' first birthday.
Nana had every snack known to man in her pantry, and Papa was ready to dole it out at any time.  Even right before a meal.  Even right before bed time.  He was also ready to wrestle with the bigger girls and play Captain Hook.  Nana's arms were itching to hold babies, and my arms were screaming for a break.  This would have been perfect, but Mary Claire decided that she was going to be a 'poonch.'  (This is our endearing name for our little lovey when she is less than happy.  I guess it comes from the word 'punchy,' and somehow we added the 'oo' sound, like in the word 'food.')
Anyhow, we had a fantastic time.  The girls get spoiled with love and food, and I get spoiled with a break (when poonch will let me!!).
I think these pictures are perfect proof of a 'grand' time!
(Yes, I know, the first two pictures are not great.  Anyone who can get four kids to look in the same direction and smile deserves a prize!)

And here's proof that we really do have a poonch at our house...

Here, There, & Everywhere

We started on Tuesday trekking to Atlanta to visit our family there.  A fun surprise was that my grandparents and aunt drove down from Maryland!  On Wednesday we flew to Philadelphia for a sixtieth birthday party for my Aunt Kathy
where six out of seven sisters from my mom's family were there!  (Somehow I only have a picture with four of them...)

Saturday we had a 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' themed shower for my cousin who is getting married in Scotland (in a castle!!) in the fall (I'll add pictures with people later...they're all on Mom's camera)

Sunday one of my other cousins (I have forty), taught us how to put on fake eyelashes that look real

Monday we took the girls to Sesame Place

where Ellie decided to be the bravest girl ever!
Here she is inching closer and closer to a stage with CHARACTERS!

But it gets better

she shook Super Grover's hand AND rode the roller coaster in the background!!
Tuesday we shopped.  It's a must when mom and I are together.  Unfortunately, a little friend we like to call poonch came along...goggles and all

Check out the sandals...that's what she does when she gets mad!

While we weren't shopping, celebrating, or primping, Ellie did a lot of swimming

and Mary Claire did a lot of sitting on the steps of the pool.

Wednesday we flew back to Atlanta
Now that we've been home two whole days, it's time to head out to St. Simon's for a week.  Hopefully a week of relaxation!
