Anyway, here are some pictures of my den and the fabrics I like. I am having a super-hard time figuring out what to do with the windows that flank the tv.
If you have another totally different idea, bring it on!! My poor friend Abby is tired of hearing about these curtains! :)
The two fabrics I would like to use are a floral...
and a cherry red burlap-type material... (it matches in the store, but is it too bright?)
The naked den...
Idea One
Idea Two
Idea Three (the orange would really be floral)
The other window (should I pinch-pleat the tops?)
I would hang these above the tv. Maybe not all four, and I could paint them if I needed to.
*The dilemma I'm having is that the fabric is going to be expensive if I do the pinch-pleats because I have to buy two-and-a-half times the fabric. BUT, I want the curtains to look good and not like something I threw together because I was tired of having no window treatments.*Are roman shades an option or do they look stupid? Do I put them in the recessed windows, or above the windows?
*Would it look like too much to have full panels on the windows next to the tv AND the big one perpendicular to those?
*Am I crazy for posting this? Don't answer that one... :)

Hey Jen!! I actually like the option you have for the perpendicular window for all 3 windows.... I would suggest not doing one window different than the other 2. I think you should do them all the same. My second choice would be the first option for all 3 windows. I like those because it adds the red in but isn't too overwhelming. I think the roman shade (red) might be too much. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Also, if you really love the fabric and think you will be satisfied with it for a while then I would suggest doing it and not skimping like you said. You will be glad, it will add so much to the room!
Loved your dream btw!!
I like idea number one. The roman shades might be a bit much and would rob the room of sunshine. Don't skimp, I did in our room to save money and I so regret it! That is going to make that room look so different. Can't wait to see after pics! Love how you were able to show test ideas!!!
I like idea one on all three windows. I have no idea what pinched pleats are but your drawing looks nice:)
Idea #1 for all 3 windows. 2nd choice is #3 for all 3. Be consistent. Roman shades aren't enough for the room and wall colors. Having the rods hung higher with the drapes will add to your room. Good luck. The floral is a great fabric!
Momm votes for the drapes and instead of the red trim try fringe. This too can be costly but goes on 50% sale often at both JoAnn and Calico Corners. Did you figure lining in the cost?
Love your fabric choice Jen! It is just beautiful. I can't wait to see the after pictures. No advice to give...everything you've done always looks great!
I think its funny that "anonymous" commented!! I just wanted to add, make sure you really love the scalloped look before you go that route. The red on the edges will make the "scallop" look very apparent. I would look at a lot of examples (as I'm sure you are) before you go a certain way. Love you!
I still think that you should do panels for all the windows and look for a fringe possibly as an accent. I'd rather live without curtains for a month or two until you save up the money. You could put the fringe on the inside of the curtains. I am also wondering if you could do panels on the windows by the tv and a valance on the other big window. I think that many panels might almost be too much...
