Since Gulf Shores has a little oil problem, we moved our annual beach trip to St. Simons Island, off the Georgia Coast. Change is good! Robbie's parents, Mary and Bob, generously (as always!) treated us to a week at the most relaxing place I have ever been.
Our condo at St. Simons Grand was so well-decorated that I could have just moved right in. Seriously. The convection oven with a warming drawer is what really sold me, but the simultaneous beach and pool view were nice, too.
Savannah is only a short drive from SSI, so we thought we would for-sure check out this southern town. Nope. We literally swam, beached, and ate the whole week we were there. And schedules? Yeah...SSI does not go on a 'schedule.' You eat when you want. Rest when you want. Swim when you want. Not having a schedule was hard for me, but after a couple of days where lunch was at two and dinner close to eight, my body acclimated to Island Time.
Before I go any further, here is our obligatory (and only!) family picture
The girls had no problem getting into vacation mode. Ellie was a fish and Mary Claire finally likes the water.
Ellie's wish of swimming at night came true, too! (I had the REM song 'Nightswimming' stuck in my head the ENTIRE time we were at the pool!!)
Another night we went to the local pier to watch fishermen bring in crabs. Here's what El thought of the whole thing at first
Once she got over the smell, she was really into it!
On most trips we take, I have a billion pictures. But, like I said, we were on Island Time, so the camera got a little rest. I'll leave you with a few of my favorites!
