Mommy vs. Buttons

Thought I forgot about Mary Claire?  Nope.  She's a hard one to forget! :)  Here is sweet MC on her first day of 3-year-old Mother's Day Out.
I tried my very, very best to get this same picture on the last day, but someone would not cooperate.
Her reason for being so mad?  Buttons.  This child cannot stand for her clothes (or really anyone else's!) to have any form of a button or snap.  Decorative or not.  Makes things difficult, to say the least.  This particular dress is a cute little Hanna Andersson (I specify this because Hanna dresses are the softest, most comfy clothes around!) with two teensie buttons on the shoulder.  Look closely or you may not see them.
This was one of those mornings where I had to be a mean Mama Bear and stand my ground.  I pulled out this dress for MC to put on, and she immediately stomped her foot with a disrespectful NO!  I knew then that this dress was going to school.  On MC's body.  I explained to MC that if she had told me nicely she didn't want to wear this dress, I would have reconsidered.  But since she was rude, she had to wear the dress.  I know I have to pick my battles, but being disrespectful is inexcusable.  I did, however, let her choose the leggings and shoes.  UGH!!
Finally, at school, Mary Claire let her guard down and let me take a real picture of her.
Robbie always says he wants our kids to be themselves and stand their ground.  Pretty sure we've got that covered with Mary Claire!
