Success!

Many of you know that two Christmases ago, I got an embroidery machine from my very sweet, very generous in-laws. I am really careful with what I do on it, because to be honest, I get really scared that I am going to royally mess something up! For Ellie's birthday get together last year, I embroidered little bags with the girls' monograms on them, and ended up sewing the handle underneath the monogram. (Poor Avery still doesn't have her bag, and Ellie's birthday was in June!) I have also embroidered a couple of things on stretch cotton that have come out looking, well, stretched. Anyhow, the fear of messing up is for a reason!
Today I got brave and decided to monogram a bathing suit cover up for one of Ellie's friends, Maggie, for her fifth birthday. (Poor Maggie got a shirt from me one time that I attempted to put her initials on that her mom probably wouldn't even let her wear to play in the dirt!) The biggest challenge was the whole knit/stretch cotton factor. Well, a different needle and three stabilizers later, it actually turned out cute!
I'm super-happy because not only is the cover-up cute, but Maggie is such a great friend to Ellie. The two of them have a blast together, and Sara (Maggie's mom), and I enjoy catching up while they play. I just love seeing Ellie with sweet friends!
Happy Birthday, Maggie!

That is just so precious! I wish I had a machine like that. One time I actually got brave and just did an initial with the zigzag stitch on my machine. It wasn't too bad! I love the detail on yours though!
