Hey Mr. DJ

My dad very rarely asks me to do favors for him. And when he does, it's something like making a chicken pot pie or posting new pictures of the girls on our blog. So, when he sent me an e-mail titled 'Help!', I was surprised.
Papa (my dad), was asked to listen to a CD and write a review on it. See, Papa listens to an eclectic brand of music. Forget radio, he loves iTunes and CDs by little known artists. He finds these artists via Rabbit Room, which is a forum created by Andrew Peterson (he is OBSESSED with anything and everything AP! I am actually the one who discovered AP...then my whole family got hooked. I digress...).
On to the favor...Papa wanted me to share a link to the CD that he reviewed. It's called 'Everything Sad is Coming Untrue,' and it's by Jason Gray. I listened to some snippets of the songs, and I have to say that I liked what I heard. If you have a second, please go here and take a listen for yourself!
And, just because I think it's funny to read this review and know that it's my dad, here it is, too!

I just want to say that this is a must have CD. There is not one “throw away" song on this CD and the flow from one song to the next is seamless. From the moment More Like Falling in Love began I was drawn into both the thought provoking lyrics and to the music.
Just to let you know where I am musically, I listen to no radio anymore. I am into indie artists who don’t get air play, both Christian and non-Christian. I have always been drawn to singers/songwriters and acoustic music. I have become a big fan of “Americana” music. Right now I listen to AP, Gullahorn, Shive, Peters, Osenga, the Everybodyfields, and the Avett Brothers. I was expecting stripped down, singer/songwriter songs when I popped this into my CD player. To say the least, I was surprised. There is such a fullness to the sound that enhances the entire listening experience.
I haven’t had time to fully dig into the lyrics but with the first listen, I know that the lyrics are deep and multi-layered and say different things to each different listener. This will definitely stay in my CD player for a long time as I savor each song and listen for the messages behind the lyrics.

Hi Jennifer!

I made Chicken Pot Pie just yesterday and thought about you. I'm glad I found your blog! I love to keep up this way. Ellie and Mary Claire are such beautiful girls. Ellie is getting so grown up...Celeste too.

Hope your arm is healing nicely!

wow, you must have a great dad! I apparently need to spend some time with him and learn more about music. I love many types of music, myself, listening to a wide variety, but I never heard of those he mentioned. I will have to check out your link soon! Thanks for sharing.

I had no idea you were such a music buff! So funny! I am one of those people who knows what I like, but I never know who is singing it or anything.
