As a kid, Robbie loved EPCOT. I did not. My grandparents lived in Orlando, so I went to Disney a lot. Then my mom and stepdad lived in Tampa for several years and got us season passes to Disney one year. I always thought EPCOT was lots of movies about science (blah!) and the big ball with the boring ride.
Turns out there are still movies and the ball is still there, but it's far more fun than I remembered. The 'ball ride' has been updated with an interactive screen on each car, the kids really enjoyed the movies
(even Captian EO...Robbie HAD to see it to see if it was how he remembered it as a kid...it was), TestTrack has been redone,
and walking through all of the different countries is so pretty.
For dinner that night we went to Le Cellier, which is in EPCOT, in Canada. The only request Robbie had for our entire trip was to eat here. We knew the kids would like it since it's a steakhouse. None of us were very impressed. The atmosphere was dark, there wasn't anything kid-friendly (except the menus to color on), and the food was good, not fantastic. Live and learn!
After dinner, Mary had a surprise for the girls. We walked over to Japan where they got to pick an oyster, watch it get cracked open, then see a pearl inside! Ellie's oyster had 'twin' pearls, and Mary Claire's had a big pearl. Fun! Once they saw their treasures, they got to beat a drum in celebration. (They also got a sweet carriage necklace that the pearl fits inside of!)
By this time, it was close to nine, which meant the light show/fireworks would be starting. It also meant that Robert was done for the night. So, Robert, the double stroller, and all of our bags went back to the hotel. I considered that haul as my exercise for an entire week.
Everyone that stayed behind really enjoyed the show over the lake in the center of EPCOT. It was a great way to end our third day at Disney and get ready for the first day at the Magic Kingdom!!
